No BS Report "Opening Day SWFL Grouper"

Capt. John GiddyUp-Bunch
July 2, 2012
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

As you know, I was very confident in my prediction of a great opening day per my last report. Well, guess what? We limited out in 4 hours not 3 and the day was hotter than a fresh F-Fox in a Forest Fire. And there was KELP everywhere. We couldn't drag lures more than 1/2 mile without stopping, reeling up, and cleaning off.
It was a major pain in my Bonzai.

The grouper (all Gags) were fat even the 22" types which are illegal on my boat. My limit is 1" above the State of Florida. The way I figure it is like reaching your 21 Birthday and being shot. Who wouldn't want to make it to age 22? Strange but this is the way it is on my 23Ft Andros Cuda. She is a beauty. I own her free and clear. And whatever I say goes. So all fish get a 1" Stay of Execution from Capt GiddyUp. Redfish are strictly catch and release. Snook will be as well on Opening Day. If you want to keep a snook, pls go to www.operationopenarms.org and select one of our GREAT GUIDES who take OUR TROOPS fishing for free on their return from combat. These guys (Capt Chris Stanford for example) deserve your business. They give back not just take, take, and take.

That's it. Out again Tue and Wed then back to Md for the summer.

Fort Myers Fishing Forecast:

With less Kelp on the surface trolling for Grouper should be out of sight/dynOmite! (I know how to spell it)

Target Species:

Grouper
