Estero Bay and the Nearshore Wrecks off Ft. Myers Beach Fishing!

Capt. Scott Theis
November 11, 2012
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

As the water temperature drops(65-68 degrees)the fish are pushing back in the creeks and back canals. There's a lot of action with snook, redfish, snapper and jacks. Were using all different methods in enticing these fish. Live bait(shrimp or white bait),artificials(gulp shrimp)has been the most productive. Look for deep pockets with good tidal flow. The trout bite is excellent on the grass flats in Estero Bay due to all the white bait being pushed in with the tide. Popping cork with a live pilchard is the ticket. Also, the Fort Myers docks are producing sheepshead and grouper.
The nearshore wrecks are heating up since the waters have cooled down. All diferent kind of species are being caught(grouper, snapper, grunts, mackeral, pompano, flounder and sheepshead). The choice of bait is cut shrimp on a 3/8oz jighead or a live pilchard on a jighead. Remember gag grouper is closed!
