The night fishing for Snook and Tarpon has been fantastic. I took a break from early morning fly fishing for Tarpon and have been taking clients night fishing. The hot summer weather is here to stay and the night fishing in the Ft Myers area will be fantastic well into October. For example last night when we started fishing the surface temperature was 87°. Remember that with warm water temperatures the fish have to feed more often due to their increased metabolism.

The lights in the residential canals are full of Snook from 18 to 24 inches and it's not uncommon to see 30 to 50 or more Snook on a single light. The key in getting them to bite is being able to match exactly the bait they are feeding on. Lately has been tiny 1 inch glass minnows, so remember to size your lures accordingly.

If you haven't been night fishing before it truly is one of the most enjoyable ways to fish. It's not often that you're able to pick a fish out of the school and get it to bite. The best part is that night fishing is that it doesn't take away from your daytime activities.
