Fort Myers Outstanding Dawn Topwater Bite For Redfish & Trout

Capt. Eric Anderson
October 12, 2014
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

The last two mornings we have had some great action on the flats the last 1/2 of the outgoing tide. From about 6am until about 7:30am the topwater action has been off the hook for Trout and Redfish. The moon is still so bright that they have had no problem seeing or hearing a Zara Spook or a Top-Dog. About 30 minutes after sunrise the bite slows way down which makes since because they fed hard all night.

Massive Schools Off The Beaches Make For Crazy Fishing Action.
Other Captains have mentioned to look for birds and fish busting on the beaches and inshore. Here's a photo taken yesterday AM (10-11-14) of a massive school of Ladyfish, Bluefish, and Spanish Mackerel boiling the water. Even with my widest camera lens you can only see about 1/3 of this school. There are three boils visible and and another 3 or 4 I couldn't get in the frame. It was every cast action that lasted about 2 hrs. My clients had never seen anything like this and to catch a fish every cast was wild fun, and they made a lifetime memory.
