GiddyUp changes act

Capt. John GiddyUp-Bunch
September 14, 2008
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

My fishing act is time honored and tested. It is the Neanderthal Approach. The basics of the act requires Ladyfish. My customers have fun catching ladies and when sliced/diced for bait, few things produce quality fish as well. Lately my act hasn't been working. I have sucked. As a Florida Sportsman Magazine Seminar Speaker, I implore my audience to go try different things. "Change you act. Don't fish the same places. If you always fish the incoming, learn to fish the ooutgoing." Fellow anglers, it was time to practice what heck I preach. There was no way I could post another "Catfish Only Fishing Report" and live with myself. The first 2 hours of today's charter was the same old catfish BS. I yelled, "I can't stand it. We are outta here!"

My customer asked "Are we calling it a day Skipper? I said "No, but we are going to my house." Upon arriving at my Hacienda, I took all the rods off my boat. My customers were freaking out and believe me to be PISSED. They were about to witness Pure F-Genius!

Tide off the full moon today and west wind means lots of water. Tide had just turned to the Outgoing. I have never taken a customer to my house in my Guiding Career. Out I walked with 2 Med Heavy Convention Rods and Reels. It was Yo-Zuri time. As I've been seeing lots of snook in the canals, why would not they be waiting at the canal intersections for my Yo-Zuri Crystal Minnow (5")was my thinking.

Color Black with Silver. Water clarity was light coffee. I said "We are going to troll up some Monster Snook." The 2 Dudes from Orlando looked at me like I was on drugs (my last episode with an drug was 1985 and I use to be really good at it). For about 40 minutes, nothing. Once the tide gained a little speed, the snook fishing turned on like I did between 1979 and 1985. It was freakin' on Fire. Better yet, it was all happening in the residential canals of St James City. How cool does it get to be knocking the nuts off of Monster Snook where everybody knows me (and some hate me because I'm not an "original Pine Islander...screw them by the way). F-Inbreeds

It was really cool to have everyone witness some of these battles from under and around their docks. Pissed them off too!! By the time my charter was over we shored 7 Monster Snook and 2 keepers for my Orlando Dudes.

Was it luck or skill? I think it was a little of both PLUS the humiliation I took from a lot of people over my last report. "Today, we lit the mutha up. Today, many residents of St James City witnessed my act up close and personal. This brings me to moral of this report.

"NEVER MAKE FUN OF THE ALLIGATOR UNTIL AFTER YOU HAVE CROSSED THE RIVER."
