Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Based on the week we had before the high winds stirred the Gulf of Mexico, this year promises to be one of the best in recent memory.
The nearshore trolling and inshore trolling with +15 and +25 Deep Divers was truly extraordinary. Redfish/King Mackerel/Grouper/and Cobia were all willing and able. Did he say redfish? My position on redfish and snook has been well documented (I don't target them for catch&release inshore) but monsters have been ripping my Deep Divers apart. The barbs to all Deep Divers should be depressed and the rear treble hook removed for best results in this trolling application. Know this before firing a round before my bow. Dragging lures over nearshore reefs targets no specific species.
Grouper: Reds and Gags have been busting lures near BJ and Mary's. Several guides have told me success has come in 22FT but I prefer 28-32 AT THE PRESENT TIME.
TripleTail: Nice tails can be found along abandoned crab pots if you marked them on your GPS. I have about 33 marked and this really comes in handy when things don't go well. Just because you can't see the Tail on the service does not mean they are not there.
Charters on Wed/Thurs of this week. Will let you know what happpens. Finally, thank you for your emails and never shy away from asking me anything you wish.
