Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

These Wrecks off of Ft. Myers Beach are providing my clients consistent action from numerous species. Sheepshead are at the top ranging from 3 to 5 pounds and I do expect this to keep going through April. The style of rig is a 3/8oz jighead with a fresh piece of cut shrimp. Other species you will come across are flounder, snapper, grunts, mackeral and snook. In another three weeks the cobia will be migrating through these structures just a few miles off the beaches. They'll pop up next to the boat so make sure there's a rod rigged with a imitation eel or a freelined pinfish.

Our water temps are going from the mid 60's to the mid 70's every week so that means the inshore fishing changes every week. After last weekends cold snap we targeted snook and redfish in the back creeks. These fish have been on the small side but a lot of fun. When the water warms were back in the middle parts of Estero Bay. Fish the higher stages of the tides and clean water is a must and here you will find reds and snook. The grass flats are holding trout and pompano. Using a popping cork and a shrimp will entice these fish.
