Great weather has the fish fired up after some windy days

Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing report for the week ending 10/09/2010

Ideal weather after several windy days got the snook fired up in Estero bay on some strong incoming tides. The beaches and around the passes are still the place to be although I have seen good action on smaller snook around oysterbars on the higher tides. The bait is still thick on the beaches enabeling this fish to eat night and day and requiring agressive chumming to get them fired up at times. Shinners free lined or under a poping cork are the best bet.

Spanish mackerel, some blue fish and sea trout are also around the passes. I am still waiting for some bigger trout to show up with the cooler weather and we did catch a couple of nice pompano near the Sanibel causeway on redfish magic jigs.

There have also been plenty of jacks and ladyfish to keep us busy, once again lots of chumming with shinners and a free lined shinner on a circle hook will bring the best results.

I am waiting for a little weather system to fire the redfish up and with a tropical system coming near Cuba the next couple of days we might get just what we need to get them going. Tight lines.
