Grouper Trolling on fire? 84 degree temp? Yes! Yes!

Capt. John GiddyUp-Bunch

Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Can you believe Grouper Trolling is ON FIRE? Jennifer Seth Shannahan of Oxford, Md fished with me for 3 straight days. Day 1 was tarpon. She hooked 4 and had 1 release at the boat (a proper release). Day 2 she scored Cobia. Day 3 was all about grouper. We were fishing 30+ feet of water within 1/2 mile of Belton Johnson for all 3 days (except Day 1 for tarpon at Knapp's Point)

The grouper trolling came as a huge shock to me. I was testing several lures Eric Bocknic of MirrOLure gave me in Pink and Green/Silver. It was like the day we went out together. Largest grouper was 26" and smallest was 19". Ms Shannahan hooked 13 in total. No Kings/no Spanish/no Bonita.. We looked for Triple Tail and nada anywhere.

84.2 water temps. Darg green crystal clear water (gree/silver +25's worked best). All hookups were cross current. Never with or against. It was very strange to have such amazing action on grouper.
