Inshore/Nearshore Wreck Fishing Report!

Capt. Scott Theis
December 2, 2012
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

As the water cools the fish are moving back in the creeks and rivers. This past week we've been fishing deep pockets that these creeks provide and there you'll find snook, redfish, black drum and flounder. These fish are on the smaller size but, the action makes up for it and your out of the wind. The choice of rig is the basic 1/4 oz jighead tipped with shrimp or a live pilchard hooked in the nose. In the afternoon the grass flats are producing trout. Popping cork with a shrimp is the way to go.

If you can get out to fish the nearshore wrecks you'll find numerous species camping out. The grouper provides the best action with sheepshead, snapper and flounder mixed in. The chice bait is pinfish pinned to the bottom for the grouper and a 3/8 oz jighead tipped with a shrimp for the sheepies and other species(gag gruoper season is closed).
