Nearshore Reefs off Ft Myers Beach on fire!!!!!

Capt. John GiddyUp-Bunch
October 10, 2010
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

And I do mean it is time to rumble! Large schools of small jacks and macks chasing bait is pretty easy to find, right. Of course but the following tip goes much further. Go find these feeding chaos events with a 10-20 or 10-22 rod (30Lb Power Pro in red). Rig with a bucktail with built in eel. Be patient. Very patient. 1 or 2 things will probably happen. (1) The cobia will come right up to your boat and you will say "Look at that shark" or (2) they will stay at a distance and you can pick them off PROVIDING you do not hit them in the head with the weighted jig. That's a tip you will love me for.

Grouper are everywhere. My choice of lures depends on water clarity and time of day. We've had great mid-day moving water so I've been dragging Mann's +25 in Holo Green Jumping Mullet. It is green and silver. Nothing looks more like a threadfin or greenie than this lure.

All week we limited out in 2 hours less than 4 miles from shore.

GiddyUp!

Fort Myers Fishing Forecast:

Excellent. The Fall migration has begun.
