Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Greetings,
Fall fishing is in full swing and our bait migration is looking very good. Like our summer water quality, our fall water quality remains very good.
Our near shore fishing has been excellent lately. Spanish mackerel, Bluefish, Ladyfish are in great numbers along the beach and are around most of the artificial reef and wrecks. Mixed in are Sharks and Tarpon. Just look for birds and bait being crashed. Silver spoons, jigs, and small plugs that imitates a glass minnow imatations work best. Cut bait and live baits will take the big Tarpon or sharks. This is a great time for a fly rod. Try a Clouser minnow they love them. Baby Tarpon are active near the bridges, Redfish and snook are very active in Estero bay. Deep edges along mangrove shorlines with moving water are the key spots. Pinfish, shiners, or artificials will produce for you right now.
Offshore kingfish have arrived. Blue Runners work great but trolling with plugs will get you action as well. Hard bottom and wrecks both are holding good fish. Excellent Mangrove snapper, gag grouper, and some red grouper are in the area as well.
Have fun, this is a great time of year.
Sincerely,
Capt. Rick
