Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report
Fishing report for the week ending 7/11 2011
Several rain cooled days have caused a spike in the snook and trout fishing, pictured above are Austin Kingsberry and his son with a nice snook double. These were two of 8 snook caught at this spot 5 of which were slot fish taken on live shinners.
Sea Trout have also been good with some being in the 20-25 inch range great for this time of year, live shinners either free linned or under a popping cork have worked best. The bigger trout have been around the beaches and passes.
There are still some mangrove snapper inshore even with the salinity of the water going down, this capt"s favorite. Smaller shinners free linned work best.
Pictured above the Samenuck family with a redfish taken on cut ladyfish. Redfish have been best on the flats or in the mangrove"s on high water.
Shark fishing has remained good lemons, blacktips, bulls are still going to be good for weeks to come.
