Redfish Good and Snook Opens
Capt. Ron Kowalyk
September 1, 2015
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report
Inshore: Good redfish action across the board with very high tides in the morning and a nice window on the outgoing. The waters have cleared up and bait has returned to the bays. Trout are rebounding well with scented plastics the top offerings and flies useful.
Snook Opens today, 1st of September, so gear up and hose down your cast net for those primo baits that liners love. The passes have given up some bigger snook for catch and release time so we'll see if they run and hide on opening day!
Smallish tarpon are in the rivers and around the pass bridges and I'm sure they've got liners for company, a win-win scenario. Crews reported overslot reds in the passes, New Pass, Redfish, Captiva and Boca , drifted a big pin on a head knocker rig and hold on! All the usual suspects are in the passes as well, snook, poons, sharks, black drum, grouper; need a 20lb. plus rig for the tug of war.
