Southwest Florida Fishing Report - Bonita Springs to Captiva

Capt. John GiddyUp-Bunch
November 10, 2005
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Praise the Lord, Allah, Buddha, or whomever you might worship. Normal patterns of fishing have returned to SW FL! King Mackerel, Redfish, Snook, and Gag Grouper are "ON FIRE." This is good news but not the best news. The BEST NEWS is what all these neat fishies are feasting upon. Hell yes I'm gonna tell ya... Red&White Yo-Zuri Hydromagnum Deep Diving Lures in 25-30 FT of Water.

From the May Reef through the BJ Reef and onwards to Helen's Reef, the BITE IS ON!! MAYDAY! Yesterday I took Mr. Valentino and Mr LaRussa from New York, NY on a Grouper Trolling Trip. These gentleman swore they were NOT Soprano Extras but I'll tell you this, they have never caught so many "Focking Fish!" We scored 20 Kings Macks, 1 (42") Cobia, 6 Gag Grouper over 23", and oversize Redfish and oversize Snook. The Yo-Zuri Hydromagnum presentation at 25-30ft was obviously perfect. Varying the depth to achieve the lure running right over the top of the bottom is the secret. I swear I could feel the trebles clicking the bottom. Maybe/Maybe not but I thought I did. It was that close. Red&White Pearl rules! Perhaps it has everything to do with water clarity. The clarity was somewhat depreciated but acceptable. If the clarity increases, try moving to shades of green or blue in Yo-Zuri Hydromagnums. You will score faster than you ever could at The Mustang Ranch in Nevada.

Redfish in Pine Island Sound: Juliana Lanese, age 8 from Kirtland Hills, Ohio aspires to fish the Redfish Tour. Fishing with her Mother and Father (Susan and Tony) on a "GiddyUp Charter" Juliana scored numerous Redfish to 7.5LBS on DOA Shrimp under Cajun Thunder popping corks. Juliana released all fish for the day including a 6LB Sheepshead.

This was on Monday.

Pine Island Sound is alive with Spanish, Redfish, and Bluefish. The Fall Migration is underway in the Gulf of Mexico. This sounds weird but you can just feel it. "It" is a fishing Zen type thing. I swear on my "Focking Mutter" it's true. "GIDDYUP!"

PS: How easy does it get when you can drag a Red&White Yo-Zuri Hydromagnum Lure from the May Reef to Helen's Reef and score all these "Focking Fish?" It doesn't get any easier than right now. Go fish!
