Southwest Florida Fishing Report - Bonita Springs to Captiva

Capt. John GiddyUp-Bunch
May 13, 2006
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

If a Major League Pitcher has a record of 20-2 he is an MVP and wins the Cy Young Award. If you are a Profeesional Fishing Guide and get sucked 2X, you feel like swimming out into the Gulf of Mexico and drowning yourself. At least I do anyway. This is the Professional Guides worst freakin' nightmare. Great customers and fish with lock-jaw. Why it happens is simply a mystery to me. Why it happens to seemingly the best people really hacks me off. 2 complete failures out of 20 and I feel like a bum. So, you think you want to be a Pro Guide huh?

Tarpon are seemingly everywhere. My 2 days of failure for this Tarpon season had me on the phone wondering if it had happened to some fellow guides. It did not make me feel better to hear it had. Big Bait can be had and the Tarpon focus seems to be moving inshore but plenty of great action is still happenin' off Knapp's Point (Sanibel).

Snook: There are some monsters on the prowl on the beach and inshore. Topwater plugs in the very early AM seems to be the punched ticket. "GiddyUp"
