Southwest Florida Fishing Report - Bonita Springs to Captiva

Capt. John GiddyUp-Bunch
September 16, 2007
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

For the past week, Capt GiddyUp has been trying to find his MOJO. SOB! Let me say this. Recreational Anglers have my deepest respect. For the past 3 years with never a vacation, I've been on auto-pilot. Finding fish, moving around the boat, organized, one in tune with the fish and my surroundings. 2 weeks away from it and upon returning from California, I felt like a monkey trying to mount a football on my first 2 charters. THE ONLY REASON I LIVED UP TO THE REPUTATION I ENJOY WITHIN THE FISHING COMMUNITY WAS BECAUSE OF GOOD OLE MOTHER NATURE. More specifically, a dominant low pressure gradient that dominated our weather pattern for the first 3 days of the week. You could throw anything into the water and catch +18" Trout, slot Reds, and keeper snook. When the Low Pressure was displaced by the current High Pressure (presnt conditions) the fish shut off like a light switch. SO, KNOW THIS: Keep and eye on oncoming weather fronts. The following report is Fluffless.

No Bull manure. No desire to have you book a charter with me. GiddyUp

Monday was on fire. My charter became exhausted from catching fish. There was only one problem. We needed Ladyfish to catch our Redfish. Make no mistake, their were plenty of Ladies out there (didn't see any sluts) but the bite was so light. By this I don't mean the Ladyfish were not biting as furious as always but they were just bitch to get to the boat. NOW FOR THE KICKER. If the Pearl and Red DOA Shrimp (3") went too far under the Ladyfish, the trout would massacre it. Big Trout. Gator Trout. Right in the middle of Pine Island Sound no more than 1 mile from Chino Island. (If you don't know where this is, not to worry. You'll enjoy the report anyway) Onward. We caught Trout of 15-23". The Low Pressure had them on the feed and it was CRAZY! This was all right on the "Tide Line" coming from Redfish Pass. Then like an unwanted guest, Tarpon start rolling all around the boat. I keep hearing about these 4 hour erections you get with Viagra on TV. This fish frenzy must been like 4 hours of pure wood. Spanish and Blue Fish. Tarpon. Big Trout. Big Ladyfish. All feasting on glass minnows and small scaled sardines. I'M OUT OF BREATH JUST WRITING ABOUT THIS FISH ORGY (it was not my first orgy in case you're wondering). Needless to say, when we threw out cut Ladfish for the Redfish, HELLO FISHING ORGY PARTII.

This has so excited me that I need to be alone with my thoughts. Nothing personal. MY MOJO IS BACK!
