Find The Right Bait Find the Fish

Capt. Mark Yimin
August 21, 2013
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Finding bait is always important but especially this time of year, there is a TON of small bait around and finding bigger white bait can sometimes be hit or miss. Luckily i have found it and the fish have responded well! To stay successful focus on areas close to the passes, as the backcountry water temps are up close to, if not right at 90 degrees. Pilchards rigged on a 2/0 circle hook with a 30lb fluorocarbon leader is the perfect setup. On the higher stages of the tides there has been Snook and Redfish in the same areas, Trout are on the flats and to find them look for the large schools of small glass minnows, they wont be far from them.
