Tarpon action is a little late but heating up

Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

What a bizarre year thus far. March appeared to be the start of an amazing tarpon season then came a 5 day period of intense cold weather. April was characterized by the winds of March. May has really been strange from the standpoint of wind, late tarpon arrivals, and for whatever reason great grouper nearshore. In speaking with countless Guides one prediction seems to be June being a great tarpon month. What? That's right. June is suppose to be the month tarpon leave our area not arrive but it looks like wave after wave of tarpon will be migrating late.
Redfish have been fun to catch and release of late. This is the one fish I would hate to be. Every time someone gets laid off from a job or falls and breaks their arm, there is another Redfish Tournament to benefit the cause. Little Sally can't go to school because she has cramps? Hold a Redfish Tournament. Dad gets caught cheating on his wife? Hold a Redfish Tournament so the wife can buy a gun and shoot him. It's totally OUT OF CONTROL.
November 16th of this year looks like a very dark day for fishing guides in Florida. Many of us appear to be getting the ax courtesy of our new Governor. Check out these fishing regulations for November 16th. No Trout. No snook. No grouper. And 1 Redfish (if the countless Tournaments don't eliminate the little supply we have)
Maybe the fall run of tarpon will save the Florida Fishing Guide. I don't know. Something is terribly wrong when visitors to our state can keep 1 Redfish per person with all other options off the table.
If November 16 to December 31 is no snook, no trout, no grouper, and 1 redfish I'm leaving the business and returning to a sport whereby I can make a decent living. Golf. I would rather take a bullet but November 16th looks like the death of the Florida Guide.
