Tarpon Have Arrived!

Capt. Gary Clark
April 12, 2011
Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing report for the week ending 4/10/2011

Tarpon have arrived, with warm days and mild nights the water temperature has rocketed to 82 very early this spring. Everything is right except the wind needs to lie down for a few days at a time.

Just about every day I have been out I have seen either free jumping or rolling fish. All we need is the wind to give us a break and we will be off and running to a early tarpon season.

Pictured is Holly Dositt with a nice trout she caught while fishing with father Andrew and friend Tom. With water temperatures rising quickly many of these fish will be making a move to the beaches early this year.

Mackerel have been steady also live shinners and chumming are getting the best results. Redfish and snook have been ok but not great with several days having less than favorable tides in the week. Small sharks are also showing up regularly. Mangrove snapper have also showed up, my favorite for dinner.

My first tarpon trip of the year is this saturday . I still have a few openings in May and June but dates are filling quickly. Get your tarpon trip booked before its to late.
