Fort Myers - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing report for the week ending 12/15/2011

Top-water plug action has been excellent, this fatty was just under 14 lbs. (it swallowed that skitterwalk) A warmer than normal December is making for some great fishing around Sanibel and San Carlos Bay despite the windy conditions.

To go along with some good redfish catches have been some monster trout like the one above. With top-water plugs 4-5 lb. fish have been normal.

Good numbers of 20-24 inch redfish are on the flats on low incomming tides.

On the higher tides there has been a whole new crop of rat reds (16-17 inch) anywhere you can find oysterbeds. A live shrimp under a popping cork works best.
