Fort Pierce snook bite

Capt. Steve Poland
April 23, 2008
Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report

Well another beautiful weekend in south florida has come and gone but , this weekend was a little different. This weekend i was fortunate to have 3 generations of family on my boat(father/grandfather Mike.father/son George and son/grandson mike)and all i can tell you is we had fun and lost of it. While the fishing was not as good as it has been for the past month, we still managed to catch some fish.

The morning started out on Bear Point which i have called home for the past month because, if you are in to catching 34 inch snook and 28 inch redfish on super spooks then this location for you. But i am sorry to say that with the passing cold front and the full moon the fish must have been feeding all night. But we did managed to find a few cooperative trout. All i can say was after our first spot this family was not ready to give up so, we made our way to the negro cut area which has had some snook and plenty of redfish. This spot also gave up a trout to Mark hooven of port st lucie which weighed in at 7 lbs 11 ozs. Well unfortunatley this area was not as forgiving as the first only giving up a trout and a few snapper. But this family was great to have on the boat. As always any time you can take your family fishing will sure to be a good time.

Until next week never give up and keep your lines tight,

Capt. Steve Poland

Fishing in south florida since 1984. It mainly started out as bass fishing for fun then it got competitive. I took my fishing to the next level by competing in local tournaments which eventually turned into competing on a more professional level. After 10 years at that level i turned my attention to competing in professional saltwater tournaments such as the IFA, and FLW tours. During that time is when i decided to get my captains license and start to give back to my local community.
