Ft. Pierce Inshore - Offshore Report

Capt. Joe Ward
January 11, 2010
Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report

JANUARY 10, 2010

INSHORE - With the water temps in the mid 50's the inshore fishing has been tough. The best action has been around the area bridges. Try a live shrimp for the black drum, sheepshead and sandperch and fish during the incoming tide. There are still a few spanish mackerel, bluefish and jacks around the Ft. Pierce Inlet and they are hitting on spoons. And, before Saturday -- I had reports of some pompano to the south of the power lines and they were feeding on sandlfeas.

OFFSHORE - The sailfish bite has been red hot right now and the bite has been starting in 100 feet of water and just a little to the north of the Ft. Pierce Inlet. Most of the fish were caught on ballyhoo. There has also been some nice dolphin in that same area. There were only a couple of reports of kingfish in 50 to 80 feet of water and they were taking a slow trolled live bait. Also, spanish mackerel and bluefish at the mouth of the Ft. Pierce Inlet and along the beaches and again they are hitting on spoons.

TEEN ANGLERS - The monthly inshore fishing tournament for the Treasure Coast Chapter of Teen Anglers is scheduled for this coming Sunday -- January 17th. There is a mandatory meeting on Saturday the 16th. For more info on Teen Anglers or if you would like to be a boat volunteer just go to the web at www.teenanglers.org
