Fort Pierce - Saltwater Fishing Report

The inshore fishig has been great for trout and snook. The trout have been on the flats in 3 to 5 feet of water and are feeding on pigfish (when you can find them) and live shrimp. Fish the shrimp under a popping cork or free line it. On 2 charters last week we had our limit of trout to 5 pounds and one trout went 7 & 1/2 pounds.
The snook are stacked up under the bridges and the docks. The best bite has been at night and a live pinfish has been the ticket. When fishing in the Turning Basin try a live shrimp and a trol-rite hook. On Sunday night I has a snook charter and we had 2 snook over the slot limit. We were fishing the bridges at the tide change.
The snapper are still strong along the channel edges and are still feeding on live shrimp. There have been a few nice flounder weighed in with the largest one being 6 pounds. The tripletail have started to move toward the ocean. They usually leave between September and October. We did manage to boat 2 tripletail, 5 and 7.2 pounds. As you all know my wife broke her old record earlier this year and has been trying to top 18 pounds.
Until next week, good fishing.
