Off to a Good Year

Capt. Freddie David

Haulover Inlet - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing has been good to us this past January!

The shallow reefs have been holding lots of Spanish mackerel, King mackerel, Bonita, Amberjack, sharks, and snapper. We have been catching these on light tackle using live pilchards for bait.

Further offshore has been a bit slower but we have still been picking away at some nice kings and mahi-mahi.

The sailfish have still not showed up yet in any numbers but if you fish for them all day you may get one or two bites.

I was able to slide a couple Bahama trips in this past month. The wahoo fishing was on the slow side for me but we have been doing well on the deep dropping. In the deep we have been pulling up some nice deep water groupers, queen snapper, wenchman, and yellow eye snapper. These are excellent table fare and sometimes save the day when the pelagic are not biting.

I still have some trips available at the end of the month and also some dates in mid-March. We have some cold fronts coming into town which should be getting the sailfish and mahi moving. Also the swordfish bite has been on fire the past few weeks.

Please send me an email or give me a phone call if you would like to book a trip.

Stay Tight,
