Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report
Hay guy's sorry for the late fishing report I have been very busy which is a good thing. But here it goes. The red fish are chewing great on the middle part of the incoming tide in the Aripeka area. Live bait is producing the best action, Pin fish and green backs are the bait's to use. Look around the outside points, and rocky shore lines. The schools that are running around are good size 12 to 30 fish per school and all in the upper slot and over. Trout are all over the place from the shallow back waters to 12 feet deep offshore. Jigs are working great the Lil Jon's in the white and watermelon red with a 1/8 to 3/8 ounce jig head is the way to go. Spanish mackerel are everywhere as well from 4 feet to 20 feet of water, jigs or green backs are the ticket. I like to put a chum bag out the back of the boat and drift with a green back on a 2/0 extra long shank hook to prevent cut offs. Cobia are here and they are thick on the grass flats and shallow water structure. Cobia are not picky on baits they will eat any thing you throw at them. Pin fish, green backs, shrimp, jigs, subsurface lures, and top water lures will work. Now we also have pompano on the shallow flats a trout jig works just fine we are catching some nice size pompanos on the white Lil Jon's.
I have heard of Tarpon showing up in Homosassa all ready with 4 hook ups. I really think by the middle of April the tarpon will be here in full swing so book a trip ITS FISHING TIME.
