2018 FFI Florida Council Fly Fishing Expo February 9-10, 2018 Plantation on Crystal River 9301 W. Fort Island Trail, Crystal River, FL 34429 The Florida Council Fly Fishing Expo at the Plantation on Crystal River is in two weeks! Register now and attend the banquet on Saturday evening. What a great place to spend a winter weekend! Bring your family! Meet old friends and make some new ones! Steve Huff (pictured), a legendary guide and member of the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame, is our featured speaker and will be sharing his extensive guiding experience. The Expo features programs on fly tying, casting, resource conservation and fishing skills conducted by experts with demonstrations and participation. General programs are included in the admission fee. Some of the general sessions include Tarpon Fishing, the History of Women in Fly Fishing, fly fishing the flats, casting games, and many more. There is a Friday evening reception included in the registration fee and a Saturday evening banquet and live auction for an additional fee. You need to register on line for banquet tickets. A limited number of small group sessions are offered for a small fee to sharpen your fly tying and casting skills such as Accuracy Casting, Distance Casting, Saltwater Quick Casting, and One Handed Spey Casting. Fly tying includes tying the Gray Ghost, working with synthetics, tying keel flies, and tying the Fuzzy Bunny. A list of fly fishing guides is available if you would like to fish the local waters of Kings Bay. Guided kayak trips are available as well as scenic river tours to watch the manatees, swim with the manatee tours, 27 holes of championship golf, boat and kayak rentals, and a full-service spa.
