Say good-by to January

Capt. Frank Bourgeois
January 30, 2014
Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Well here we are the end of January. It is almost time to come out of hibernation. I am truly sorry for the weak fishing report as many of you know I am not a fan of cold weather. I sit around and play my guitar, repair my fishing tackle and make fishing flies. This weekend is going to be 80, I plan to venture out and look for backwater fishing spots. I am typing on my laptop watching the snow on TV in Florida. Gee! I wonder why I have not been fishing… LOL… I bet you laughing at me especially if you're from the north and ice fishing.

Cyber Angler and I have many years of history. At one time the key three websites on the net in Florida was cyberangler.com, alwaysfishing.com and capmel.com sad to say my friend Captain Mel has left us and yes I do miss him. Capt. Frank from always fishing will turn 65 this year (slowing down) and hopefully the giant on the net Rudy Gomez of Cyber Angler will be here for many years to come.

(As far as fishing is concerned, in my area of Florida)… I can only report what others tell me. At this time, Mangrove snapper, trout and reds are deep in the backwater. The flats are baron of fish one day and loaded the next depending on temperature. Red Grouper are being caught in sixty foot or deeper… be aware this depth can be obtained by driving offshore between forty and sixty miles leaving from Hernando Beach to Crystal River.
Till next time Tight Lines
