Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing Report For Hernando Beach Fl

Fishing is great here along the Nature Coast of Fl, we got a lot of action taking place right now our spring patterns are taking place. Red fish are schooling up in larger schools 5 to 15 per school size rang from 18 to 26 inches. Live bait is the ticket right now for the reds, Live green backs and pin fish on a 3/0 circle hook is the way to go. Target rocky points and mangrove shore lines like i all ways say find the mullet you will find the reds. Black drum are here and fun to target, Look around springs and deep holes live shrimp free line on a 1/0 circle hook is all you need size of the drum 15 to 24 inches. The Gulf water temp is claiming up pretty quick my last reading was 71 degrees in 5 feet of water. We have tons of green backs AKA white bait in the Aripeka area we usually don't see this until late April along with massive schools of spanish mackerel in 8 to 12 feet of water on spotty bottom, a 1/4 ounce jig head with a mirr o lure lil jon in the glow or water melon red color are working great, or live green backs rig on a extra ling shank 2/0 hook free lining will produce some big macks. Sheeps head are thick on the offshore rock piles the trick to catching sheepshead offshore is never drive the boat over the rock pile they will not bite so knowing were to anchor is crucial. Chum with frozen shrimp this will get them feeding, I like to use a 1/0 circle hook no weights at all unless you have a strong current then a small split shoot will be ok. Keep a tight line set the hook on the slights hits sheeps head are great bait stealer's. Book a trip fishing is great.
