Hernando Beach Fishing Report

Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hernando Fishing Report

On my recent charters the red fish action is great on a good incoming tide, I like a good incoming tide first thing in the morning the cooler water in the morning along with a incoming tide is the ticket for great red fish action. The water temperature is around 85 and climbing so fish early and late afternoons for reds. Live bait is the ticket pin fish and green backs is my bait of choice. Look for the red fish on the outside points and shorelines, find the mullet and the reds are close by. Top water lures are doing good in the morning hours. The spook Jr in the bone color is working well for both reds and trout.

Trout and big sea bass in the deeper grass flats 8 to 10 feet is giving us some awesome action. A 1/4 to 3/8 ounce jig head and a white gulp shrimp or white Mirr O Lure Lil Jon is producing some big fat trout and sea bass. Sharks are all over the place just free line a bait out the back of the boat and hang on, from Black tips to small sand sharks are a lot of fun. If you want the big guys go out to around 20 feet of water with a good chum slick and a big pic of blue runner and the bull sharks will stop to say hello.

Scallop season starts in just a few weeks, July 1St to September 10Th is the season. We will have another banner year this year just like last year was, my scallop trips last year was very good with limits coming in a hour or less is very very good. We are seeing scallops all over the place all ready from being in the boat. So book your scallop trip or a combo fishing and scalloping trip for up to 4 people at a great rate. Book your trip fast not to many dates left open...
