Hernando beach fishing report

Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hernando beach fishing report
Capt. Josh fritz

Inshore fishing action is great, snook bite is really good on a moving tide first thing in the morning. Live green backs are the bait of choice for snook and red fish. Target points and mangrove banks with a good current flow. Rig your rod with a 1/0 to 2/0 circle hook and a 20 to 30 pound fluorocarbon leader about 2 foot long. Cast up current and be ready for the snook to blow up o the bait.

Red fish are in the same area but also target oyster bars and rocky banks with good mullet schools. Green backs and pin fish for bait.

Trout are still in the deeper grass flats 8 to 12 feet. A 1/4 ounce jig head with a white little John soft plastic is the way to go.

Snook season opens September 1st and scallop season ends on September 25th. Book your trip asap dates fill up fast.
