Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hernando Beach Fishing

One day its temp is in the 80's next day in the 50's. You have to pick the best days for the type of fishing your wanting to do. Last week we've had some very calm seas, the inshore Grouper is off the hook right now. We fished in about 10-15 feet of water and rewarded with 2 -24" & 1 -29" Gag Groupers. We started with frozen cut threadfin, caught a cooler full of Grunts, once we started getting some good bites, we use either whole threadfins or cut lizard fish. The lizard fish seemed to be the hot item on the Gags food list, maybe a change from the same old frozen baits. Within only about 3 hours of fishing we had the 3 keeper fish. Nice productive short day of shallow water Grouper fishing. Next time out try a few different baits as in cut mullet, lizard fish, cut grunt or whole live grunt or spottails. Always be on the look out for inclement weather, the sea fog, rain or wind can turn a great day on the water into a nightmare! I always check the NOAA website for the best information. Good luck on the water.
