Hernando Beach Inshore Report

Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hernando Beach Fishing Report

Chase N Tails Fishing Charters

Fishing along the Nature Coast has been very good, Shallow grass flats and back country bays are holding most of our big gator trout and red fish. Target water depth of 1 to 5 feet around structure such as oyster bars, grass flats, and mangrove shore lines. Live bait wont last long for a big trout or red fish, Jumbo shrimp, pin fish, and fresh cut mullet is my bait of choice. When fishing for trout I like to start out with a top water lure or a soft plastic jig to cover some ground quickly and when we fine a school anchor casting distance away. For a quick hot bite use a popping cork with a live shrimp under it, cast it out there pop the cork as you retrieve it back to the boat. Red fish are schooling up in big numbers I am finding most of my reds on the outside points and shore lines, look for the big mullet school and fish for the reds on a good incoming tide. Black drum are holding in some canals, springs, and deep holes small live shrimp rigged with a 1/0 hook and a small split shoot will do great. Offshore the Spanish mackerel are still holding in 8 to 15 feet on spotty bottom use 1/4ounce jigs with a gulp shrimp retrieving it quickly for some awesome action.
