Hernando Beach Inshore Report

Capt. Josh Fritz
February 19, 2013
Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Mid February Fishing Action

Hernando Beach Fl

Capt. Josh Fritz

It is mid February and the fishing is great. With the recent cold snap the fish have moved back into the shallow creeks, coves, and near by springs. Red fish and trout are schooling up in these areas, live shrimp is your best bet but pin fish will do great on some big red fish. Look for the mullet schools from Aripeka to Chassahowitzka again go deep into the creeks and near by springs. Black drum are holding in deeper holes and close by the springs live shrimp rigged with a #1 hook should do the trick. When the high pressure gets back on Florida the fish will move back out of t he creeks to along the mangrove shorelines and grass flats. Offshore the mackerel and bluefish are hanging around 8 to 15 feet on spotty bottom use a 1/4 ounce jig head with a white gulp shrimp or a lil john soft plastic bait will work great. Pompano are around the shallow rocks in 4 to 8 feet of water mirr o lures 17MR'S or soft plastic jigs will do great look for the flash of the pompano and cast right into the school. Book your self a trip fishing is great and will only get better and better.
