Hernando County fishing

Capt. Frank Bourgeois
October 23, 2014
Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Well there is not much to talk about. Everyone here is breathing easy as the red tide goes away. Grouper have been caught from ten feet to fifty feet. Trout fishing is slow from years past. Gee! you think because we have the biggest shrimp fleet in the state might just take a toll on the trout. The commercial people with two ticket holders in the boat can keep 100 fish per day. Our Government changed the recreation season not to close the breading season. How much can this fishery take? If anyone reads this report… fight to make Sea Trout a sport fish. Tarpon Coast Anglers is a fly fishing club that proved matching the hatch is the best way to catch fish. The club had a kayak fishing trip launching at Bayport. Many fish were caught and released.
