Hernando Fishing Report

Capt. Josh Fritz
February 25, 2015
Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

The last week of charters has produced great black drum action and red fish action on the afternoon incoming tide. We are targeting areas close to springs and deeper holes for black drum, live shrimp rigged on a 1/0 circle hook. Most of the drum are 14 to 24 inches with some up to 26 inches. The red fish are holding deeper into the creeks and coves with a lot of structure rocks, oyster bars, mangroves ect. Live jumbo shrimp and pin fish has been the best bait so far. The last hour of the incoming tide seems to be the best action with reds fish, size ranging from 20 to 27 inches. Trout are showing up on the flats in 1 to 3 feet today the water temp was 66.8 and the trout where hungry. We got our boat limit in no time on mirrolure 17mr 808 and 50 color and on the rootbeer little johns. We got these fish fishing pot holes around the sea grass at dead low tide.
