Hernando Fishing Report

Capt. Josh Fritz
August 20, 2015
Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing is great along the Nature Coast. Red fish are schooling up in large numbers along the outside points and islands, target reds with good water depth I like the last 2 hours of incoming and first turn of the outgoing tides. Live bait is producing very good catches of quality redfish, Live greenbacks and pinfish have been the best bait for me. Snook are mixed all over the place from back creeks to outer points, live green backs will get there attention fast. Shallow water grouper fishing is very good in 8 to 12 feet of water live and frozen baits are producing the best action. Use a 1/2 ounce egg sinker when the tide is ripping fast. Spanish mackerel bite is turning on big time small green backs, shrimp, or white soft plastics are the way to go. Scallops are holding in 5 to 8 feet of water north of Bayport tri pod.
