Hernando Fishing Report

Capt. Josh Fritz
August 15, 2016
Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hernando beach fishing report.

Fishing is picking up in the back country waters, red fish are schooling up in schools along the outside points and shore lines. Live bait is producing the best action, green backs are my favorite bait of choice with pin fish being second. I like to rig up with 25 pound fluorocarbon leaders and 1/0 to 2/0 circle hooks. Last of the incoming and first of the outgoing tide seem to best the best action most of the reds are ranging from 18 to 25 inches with a few over slots mixed in.

Snook action is great on a good moving tide, live green backs rigged the same way as for reds. Target rocks, pot holes, troughs with a good current flow. Cast up current and let the bait swim naturally in the current. Snook sizes 20 to 34 inches.

Trout action is picking up in shallow water 3 to 5 feet on grass flats. Live green backs under a float is always a sure bet. Also top water plugs, mirrolure 17mr, and soft plastics will always get the trout attention. Incoming to high tide has been good for trout fishing. Sizes of the trout 15 to 22 inches.

Scallops are still doing good with the weather we had last week the water is dirty but just about back to crystal clear. Still 4 to 6 feet is the ideal depth.

Stop into precision tackle for all your fishing needs.

Book your Charter asap fishing is great.
