Hernando Fishing Report

Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hernando beach fishing report .

Fall fishing is here and in full swing I have got to say this is my most favorite time of year for fishing. with the big low tides and cooler weather the fish are feeding great. Inshore the speckled sea trout are holding in the shallow waters from 1 to 3 feet around spotty bottom, pot holes, and lime rock bottom. Top water plugs are working great Rapala skitter walks in white and mullet color are working great on calm days, when we have a little wind I like a louder pitch bait like the spook Jr in the bone color. Mirr O Lures 17mr subsurface lures are great with high water the 808 and 50 color are my go to colors for trout fishing. soft plastics in white and watermelon red are also a favorite of mine. live shrimp free lined or under a pooping corks is great as well. Most of the trout are 16 to 24 inches. Redfish are holding close to the banks around mangroves and lime rock bottom on higher tides and around potholes on the low tide, live jumbo shrimp and pin fish is the way to go.

Shallow water grouper fishing is great we are catching a bunch of big gags in the 28 to 34 inches range on plugs and dead bait. 6 to 12 feet of water on rocks with a good tide flow has been the ticket for me. Casting and trolling rapala Fmag 18 is so much fun with big gags crushing them. Spanish mackerel are all over the same depths we are seeing large schools of the and they are a hoot to catch, a white soft plastic and a 1/4 ounce jig head is all you need work the jig fast and you will have a ball with big macks ..

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone
