Holly Mackerel !!

Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Holy Mackerel !!

The Spanish Mackerel bite has been off the hook off the Nature Coast. Find clear clean water in 8 - 10 feet with either rocky bottom or grass. I like to drift these areas jigging rubber twitch baits till I start getting bites. I will then drop an anchor and chum the area. Usaully the Macks will be all over your baits. Be ready to have alot of extra jigs, you'll have alot of cut offs. You can try using a steel leader if the bite is strong and they wont mind the leader, if the bite slows. go back to a flouracarbon leader. Good fishing and stay safe.
