Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Chase N Tails Fishing Charters - Hernando Beach Fishing Report
Yes it is HOT out there but if you bet the heat fishing is great. I like to target the shallows very early in the morning for red fish. The red fish that iam finding are half way from the outer points but not in the back creeks. Aripeka is holding some good numbers of reds around rocks, oyster bars, and mangrove shorelines. Make sure you look for the mullet schools jumping or making nervous water. Live green backs have been the best bait for me, now I have heard from a few anglers that they are having good luck with fresh cut mullet chunks in the chazz area.
At 10:00am I like to head out to the deeper grass flats for trout, sea bass, sharks, and cobia. For the last month the 8 to 10 feet mark has been the ticket. I like to use a white gulp shrimp on a 1/4 oz jig head working across the bottom or a pin fish or green back on a 1/8oz jig head slowly working the bait just above the sea grass.
There are a HUGE school of pompano hanging around our are in 6 to 8 feet around the named rock piles from Aripeka to Bay port. Now they have been a little tricky to catch but I have found that the gulp shrimp cut in half on a jig head is working. This school of pompano are on the move one day they will be on a rock pile out of bay port the next day they are in Aripeka.
The scallops are just amazing right now, we are getting our limit in under 2 hours and they are huge this year. We are finding the best amount of scallops in 6 to 8 feet from bay port to chazz.
Book a trip and lets catch some fish or a scalloping trip I am running a special 10% off if you book a trip befor August 10th 2011.
