Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hernando Beach Fishing Report

July 1st is almost here and that means only one thing Scallop Season has started for Hernando county waters. Scalloping is a fun exciting time for family and friends, we all enjoy the beautiful crystal clear waters and snorkeling for some tasty scallops. We scallop in 4 to 7 feet of water depending on the tide low tide is easy work. All you will need is a mask, snorkel, fins and a catch bag. Finding scallops is also easy to do, find grass bottom in the right depth for you and jump over board. Last year was a great season and this year will also be another great year. If you are scalloping make sure to fly the divers down flag at the highest point of your boat. Limit for scallops are two gallons per person in shell or 10 gallons per boat witch ever is less.

Fishing is good to we are catching some nice grouper, grunts and mangrove snappers in 10 to 14 feet of water. Live bait is producing better action with gags, mackerel and cobia. Red fish are roaming the outer islands and points, A good moving tide with live bait is producing some great action. Trout are holding in 10 to 13 feet of water cast a 1/4 to 3/8 ounce jig head with a white or chartreuse little Jon soft plastic.

Book your charter ASAP we offer combo fishing and scalloping trips or you can do a scallop or a fishing trip. We can accommodate large parties.
