Scalloping and Fishing

Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hernando Beach Fishing Report..

Scallop season is in full swing we are limiting out on scallops on every trip out. Bay port to Chassahowitzka is full of scallops in 4 to 6 feet of water. I like to plain my trip around the low tide so it is easier for everyone in your group. A mask, fins, snorkel and a mesh bag is all you need for your scallops. Make sure you fly the divers down flag and limits are 2 gallons in the shell per person no more then 10 gallons per boat per day. Scalloping is fun for the hole family and we can accommodate large groups.

Fishing is good trout are holding in 10 to 14 feet of water use a 1/4 to 3/8 ounce jig head with a white, root beer or chartreuse little Jon. Bounce the jig slowly on the bottom the trout are hitting them on the soft side. In the same area we are also catching sea bass, sharks, and some cobia.

Grouper fishing is still good use dead bait to bring the gags out from there home. Frozen thread fins and Boston mackerel are my top frozen baits. Live bait will work such as big pin fish, pig fish and white bait.

Red fish are roaming the islands and oyster bars, live green backs or pin fish is the way to go. Mid incoming tide has produced the best action, snook are in the same areas as the reds and white bait is candy to a hungry snook.

Book your fishing or scalloping trip asap we also provide a combo fishing and scalloping trip call for details. 352-345-9304
