Tarpon And Cobia Time

Capt. Josh Fritz

Hernando Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hernando Beach Fishing Report.

Fishing is epic right now along our flats and near shore areas. Red fish and snook are eating everything we put in front of them, live pilchards and pin fish are the bait of choice right now. Mid incoming or high outgoing tide has produced the best action with reds and snook. Target them on the outside points and islands find areas that has a good current flow and mullet schools. Cobia are all over the place from shallow flats to nearshore rocks and wrecks May is the best time to get your cobia fix. Tarpon are making there migration north along the coast we target them from now to mid July along our coast lines and beaches. Live crabs or pilchards for bait or a soft plastic fluke will get them to eat remember tarpon is a game of angles try and present your lure at a 90 degree angle and steady reel.

Grouper season starts June 1st to December 31st, we are all ready booking out for October, November and December but we have some dates still available don't wait get your date book asap.
