Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report
Ben Baumgardner, son Scotty(age 15) and his Foreman, Kieth had 2 super fish catching days with Capt. Tony Matthews, a Old Homosassa Professional Guide.
Ben andI have been fishing together since 1993. The torch has been passed to Tony but now I fish beside him which is great.
It's no accident that the Homosassa guides are top notch since the 50's because they are blessed with an abundance of fish, shallow flats and beautiful trees along the 7 Rivers and creeks. It is one of several that is a Fishing Captial but in a class by itself due to the lay of the land and home of many world records of tarpon on fly with 202 pounds, the largest recorded on 20-pound Tippet.
Ben, from Gastonia, NC. began fly fishing under my tutorial and became the "luckiest white man from NC." He caught a 90-pound tarpon with his first cast. After a medium battle he touch the Poon. The length of his cast was under 35 feet. We have since chased the Silver Kings.
