Captain Red ED Brennan's - Homosassa Fishing Report 5-29-10

Capt. "Red Ed" Brennan

Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

Homosassa Summer Time Fishing!!!

We'd like to wish everyone a Happy & Safe Memorial Day Weekend! Enjoy some quality family time and grill up some hamburgers and hot dogs and enjoy some cold beverages!! Special thanks to all the Veterans, Service Women and Men who keep us safe!!!

It's Summer Time and the Fishing is easy! As we enter into our summer time patterns, the fishing has been awesome, with some days catching a dozen different species! The Cobia run has reached a fever pitch, with the Brown Clowns following Sting Rays and Loggerhead Turtles. They are aggressively eating and will attach Pinfish, cut Mullet and even Berkeley Gulps popped behind a Cajun Thunder. The Cobia Big Fish Tournament is next weekend, June 5 & 6th, at Mac Rae's in Old Homosassa with the limit of 200 boats expected.

Gator Speckled Sea Trout, (over 20 inches), continue to be caught at the Bird Rack and Foul Grounds to the North of the Homosassa River and at the Trout Bar, South of Chassahowitzka Point. Drifting any of the lush grass flats from 4 to 10 feet of water, using either a Pink Shine or White Berkeley Gulp Jerk Shad again behind a Cajun Thunder Popping Cork will result in constant action and your limit of Sea Trout.

The Redfish bite continues to be excellent, with some days being hard to catch one under the 27 inch slot limit! The Bronze Bruisers are cruising the outside edges of the rocky islands on an incoming tide looking for shrimp, crabs and other crustaceans. Best baits have been cut Pinfish, Ladyfish and Lizard Fish.

Spanish Mackerel and Black Tip Sharks can be chummed up to your boat in 9 to 10 foot of water. Both of these species will burn line off your real and provide exciting action on light tackle.

Scallop Season opens July 1st! Book your Scallop charters soon at, www.HomosassaRedfish.com, as most of July is already booked.

Also, effective July 1st, we will be increasing the rate of our "Introductory Offer" from $199.00 for a full day charter to $299.00. We will continue to honor the $199.00 offer for any charters booked before July 1st. The "Introductory Offer" is good for the first time you fish with us for one to four anglers and includes everything except your lunch, beverages and gratuity.

1993 – 19 Foot Carolina Skiff for sale!!! This center consol is ready to catch fish and is powered by a 1993 – 85 HP Yamaha Engine. Lots of extras, including a Magic Tilt Trailer, Bimini Top, 4 Blade Performance Stainless Steel Prop, (with a back-up 3 blade spare prop), Livewell, New Gas Tank, On board battery charger, trolling motor batteries, custom anchor system, custom hand made push pole, multiple rod holders, tons of storage space, bottom paint and boat cover. Contact Captain "Red ED" at 352-382-3939, for more details.

We'd like to thank everyone for their concern over the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. At this point there is no issue with pollution from the spill in Florida waters. All we can do is continue to pray and hope that the spill doesn't effect our beautiful waters. As most of us have said, how can these oil companies operate without and emergency plan in place???
