Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

Another perfect day out on the water, today we had flat calm seas all day long(which we will have tomorrow if anyone wants to go) and the grouper bite was on all day long! we started in 20 feet of water trolling some plugs over rocks for some gags, got one nice one and a few shorts. Then we bottom fished out in 30-35 feet of water over some rocky areas and the action just never stopped. we were limited out on gags in no time at all and we managed to pull a limit of reds off of the same spots in 35 feet of water. The lack of wind allowed us to keep a flat line out all day, we hooked 4 kings and landed one on a stinger rig. We also found a big trigger fish today and some very tasty big grunts. This was patty and Stephan's first fishing trip as a married couple, and they sure make a great team! The best color for plugs today was bright orange, I had a lighter colored plug that did not get a single hit, so after a few spots I changed it out for a fire tiger color pattern and the bite was on. We trolled some in 20 and some in 35, every time we hit a good rock one of the rods would hook up, this is one of my favorite ways to catch grouper.
We finished the day with a limit of gags and a limit of reds, can't beat that on the dinner table.
