Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

This Grouper season has seen very many nice catches; there are lots of big Red Grouper and Gag Grouper being brought in every day. We have limited out on 90% of our trips for grouper and usually have a Cobia or some King Fish on the side. We have been fishing from 25-60 feet of water using threadfin hearing and live pinfish. The Gags have been all over the live bait, and the red grouper have been hitting great on squid and cut bait. The inshore fishing has really picked up in the past few weeks; there are lots of reds around the outer islands and Big trout on the oyster bars during the out going tide. Most days we go out for the inshore trips, we are seeing tons of snapper and grouper on the inshore rocks, and there are lots of trout on the deep-water flats. The red fish have been active on the middle tide, hitting spoons and top water lures. Once the tide gets high, most of the Reds are actually inside of the islands, making it harder to catch them. I recommend using pinfish or shrimp and pitching to the edge of the mangroves on the high tide. The Scallops are very thick right now, we have been limiting out in1-2.5 hours every day, which leaves some time for spearfishing or inshore fishing. We still have a few openings for July and more in August, so give us a call if you want to do a Grouper trip, Scallop trip, or Inshore Fishing today! 352 220 1184
