Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

I'd like to thank everyone for their prayers, concerns, and well wishes! We are getting back to normal, (if there is a normal in Homosassa), and back to business doing charters as if nothing has happened!! Thanks again we really do appreciate the love, it meant tons!!!

Homosassa Scallop Season – 2016

This has been the best season ever, by far, for scalloping here in the ‘Sassa! Not only have we been getting our limits on most charters, they have been bigger than we have ever seen before, right from opening day! Homosassa is definitely the Scallop Capital of Florida!! Even more so with most of the season being closed in the Panhandle area do to the red tide and to another not so good season in Steinhatchee due to the tannic runoff from all the rain. As you know scalloping is all about visibility if you can't see them you can't grab them.

We've had our busiest and most successful season ever too! I'd like to thank all of our loyal clients that return season after to season to enjoy what is best described as an "Underwater Easter Egg Hunt"! Families like the Cunneen's, from Apollo Beach, Florida that have been here 7 seasons in a row. It's been great watching Annika grow up! Plus, I'd also like to thank all the new guests that came for the first time this season. Like the Blackstone Family from Indialantic Beach, Florida who enjoyed two days of scalloping and celebrated their twins, Campbell & Bekah's 14th birthday on the Gulf. We hope to see you all again next season!

Please remember to book early as we have clients that book their trips a year in advance. With a few weeks left in the season there is still time for you to come get your "Dollops of Goodness"! Scallop season closes on September 24th; we've gotten our limit on the last day of the season the last three years. Give us a call at 352-382-3939 before the season ends and stock your freezer.

Rate Increase for 2017 Scallop Season

$350.00 for 1 to 4 guests
plus an additional $75.00 each for the 5th and 6th guests
so 6 guests would cost $500.00

As most of you know, we do two scallop charters per day from 7 to 11 AM and from Noon until 4 PM. We also have a fleet of boats available so we can handle groups of any size. We've had groups from 36 to 50 guests this summer! Check the Scallop Page on our website, www.HomosassaRedfish.com, for more details or to see pictures of the Captain's and the boats in our fleet. We will honor the 2016 rates for anyone that reserves their date for the 2017 season with a 50% deposit before the year ends, December 31, 2016. Rate increase goes into effect January 1, 2017.
