Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fishing has been hit or miss this june, some days the fish practically jump into the boat and other days you really have to work to put a few good fish into the box. The trout have moved offshore into 10-15 feet of water so we have been running out a good distance every day to get on the fish, the good thing about this is that we also catch big seabass and decent size mangrove snapper in this depth. So most days we are coming in with a nice variety in the box. We had a great cobia run this year, and there are still a few out there to be caught. Red fish has been strong the past few weeks, we are seeing large schools of fish, and most days they are ready to eat, as long as you hit them at the right tide. The red grouper are still hitting strong in 55-75 feet of water and gags are basically every where. When I dive I seem to just trip over them on the bottom... Fortunately GAG grouper will open July first, and we are booking up fast for those first few weeks of july, with Gags and scallops opening up on the same day its going to be an exciting month.
Homosassa Fishing Forecast:

The next few weeks are looking great, and with everything opening in July, I recommend booking an offshore trip while you still can, the first 14 days of july will have red snapper and gags open at th same time! That only occurs for 14 days, once a year, so this is the time to go!
Target Species:

Grouper, Trout, Snapper
